On-line directory serviceANU telephone directory information is available on-line via the World Wide Web. The on-line telephone directory is regularly updated and contains information for staff appointed after publication of this hard copy Directory. The on-line telephone directory also offers the capacity to search using key words. For example, if you only know the first name of a person then you can search on that name and all persons with that first name will be listed. You can also enter a telephone extension and find out the name of the person with that extension. The on-line telephone directory can be accessed through the WWW using software such as Netscape or Internet Explorer. To access the on-line telephone directory via the WWW use the following URL: http://netcomms.anu.edu.au/phone/index.html Or for a simple name search, the ANU internal home page search function may also be used. Updating the DirectoryStaff are requested to assist in keeping the telephone directory up-to-date by checking and advising of any changes to listings as they occur. Official Positional/Functional Electronic Mail Official Positional/Functional e-mail aliases (addresses) have been established for a number of University officers. A list, by area, is included in the online directory service. It is also possible to search for an official alias by entering all or part of the title of the officer. Staff are encouraged to use the functional alias for official correspondence and in the creation of electronic mailing lists. How to dial the ANU from outside the University.The Australian National University is located in Canberra, The Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Australia has an international country code 61, the area code for Canberra is 2 (02 if you are dialling STD from inside Australia) and The Australian National University's switchboard can be reached on 6125 5111. The full international number for the ANU switchboard is: +61 2 6125 5111. The switchboard is attended from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm local time, Monday to Friday. The phone directory search on the Staff Home Page returns five digit extension numbers. The Siding Spring Observatory is located at Coonabarabran in North Western New South Wales and internally may be reached by dialling 2 followed by the 4 digit extension number or externall (or if the tie line facility is out of service), +61 2 68 42 then the four digit extension.(example 6262 - enquiries becomes +61 2 68 42 6262). The residents of all Halls and Colleges on the ANU campus, including Fenner Hall, can be contacted by dialling +61 2 6194 xxxx. Resident's extension numbers are private and will not be given out to anyone under any circumstances. Student Information
Booking IP Conference Telephone Networks & Communications now have an Avaya IP conference telephone for use by the University community free of charge. The telephone is NOT available for use by organisations that provide conference facilities as a business function. Ie, if you rent out conference facilities you must provide your own conference telephone (These can be ordered through Networks & Communications - Approx $1500). The telephone must be booked by contacting Wes Dinsmore on extension 55498 or by email, Wes.Dinsmore@anu.edu.au. If Wes is away then the alternate booking contact is Kylie Paintain on extension 55034, email Kylie.Paintain@anu.edu.au. You must provide a valid University charge code so that the cost of the conference call can be invoiced back to you. No charge code, no booking. There are a few rules that you must agree to before you make a booking and by making a booking you accept the conditions as set out below.
The aluminium case contains the following equipment: 1 X manual 3. Networks & Communications will install the conference telephone on a working data outlet. We will NOT patch the outlet to enable a network connection. If you are unsure if the data outlet is working you should talk to your LITSS contact. You should make sure that the data outlet is live prior to the conference. 4. Make sure that you have left yourself enough time prior to the conference so that you can familiarise yourself with the operation of the conference telephone. 5. The conference telephone WILL require programming in order to make it work. If you are not comfortable doing this the Technician delivering the unit will program it for you. There are instructions on how to program the conference telephone in the manual in the aluminium case. |
