Using ANU Nameservers from Off Campus

Since May 2005, ANU's nameservers are blocking recursive queries from hosts, that don't have an ANU IP number or an IP number starting with 203., 202. or 192. Queries from machines on other networks will be answered, if the nameserver has the answer in its cache already.

Please do not configure home machines to use ANU nameservers. Configure laptops to use ANU nameservers, when on campus and the ISPs nameservers (might happen automatically via ppp), when at home.

The reason for this change is that our nameservers have been heavily used from machines all over the world lately. This activity appears to be virus related.
